What Counts As A Real Black Friday Trash Can Deal?

A trash can is a durable purchase that rarely goes on dramatic sale, so a small markdown on a known model is the realistic goal. Confirm the exact size and lid style because simplehuman sells the same brand in many capacities, and the semi-round 45-liter is a different product from the slim 40-liter.

Capacity is a trade between kitchen footprint and bag changes. A 13-gallon can is the common household size, while slim cans fit narrow spaces. Sensor models add convenience, but they need batteries or a charger and have more parts that can fail.

Which Trash Can Should You Buy?

There are two main designs, with a few variations.

TypeBest ForWatch For
Step can (simplehuman slim or semi-round)Most kitchens, hands-free with a footFoot pedal only
Sensor can (simplehuman, Ninestars, BestOffice)Messy hands, hygiene, convenienceNeeds power, more to repair
Large open top (simplehuman 60-liter)Garages, busy householdsTakes floor space
Slim step can (40-liter)Narrow kitchens, apartmentsSmaller bag capacity

Choose the size that fits your cabinet or corner first, then decide whether sensors are worth the extra upkeep.

When Do Trash Can Deals Drop?

Home goods rarely get their own event, so trash cans tend to appear within broader household promotions. Holiday hosts often replace a worn bin in the days before Thanksgiving.

For trash can shopping, the calendar is this: Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, with Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26 and Cyber Monday on Monday, November 30. Amazon has not announced its 2026 Black Friday Week dates yet. Last year its event ran from November 20 to December 1, so a similar window is likely for trash can offers, though that is not confirmed.

Early deals are already live in Amazon's Holiday Shop, and some carry a Limited time deal badge with an end date. Amazon does not match competitor prices, so a lower trash can price elsewhere will not be matched. Other retailers publish their own windows: Walmart runs early deals November 12 to 15, Best Buy starts November 19, and Target has an early sale November 5 to 7.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are simplehuman trash cans worth the price?

They are built for years of daily use with sturdy hinges and lids, which is why they hold value better than budget bins.

How big should my kitchen trash can be?

About 13 gallons suits most households. Smaller kitchens do fine with 10 gallons or less.

Do touchless trash cans break easily?

The motion sensor and motor are the failure points, so they carry more risk than a step can.

Do trash cans go on sale?

Yes, usually in small steps, so use the live discount sort on this page to see the current best.
