The 2025 deal was the Basic with Ads plan at $2.99 a month for 12 months. The regular price was reported at roughly $10.99 to $11 a month, which is about 70% off. It was open to new and returning subscribers and ran through December 1.

There was also a back door. Hulu subscribers could add HBO Max at the same $2.99 a month for 12 months, against a normal $9.99.

Only the ad-supported tier was included. Anyone who wanted an ad-free plan paid the standard price. After the 12 months, the subscription renews at the full rate.

The promo is attractive, but it only fits some viewers. Compare it against how you actually watch.

• Ads or no ads. The discount covered the ad tier only. If commercials interrupt shows you care about, the saving may not feel worth it.
• Direct or via Hulu. The Hulu add-on suits people already paying for Hulu. Otherwise the direct plan is simpler.
• Eligibility. Returning subscribers were allowed, but rules apply, so a recent cancellation can affect whether you qualify.
• Renewal. Mark the 12-month date, because the price jumps afterward.

When Do HBO Max Deals Drop?

HBO Max has not announced a 2026 Black Friday offer. The 2025 promotion ended on December 1, and streaming promotions generally cluster around the same days as retailers. Black Friday is November 27, 2026, with Thanksgiving on November 26 and Cyber Monday on November 30.
